John L. Harrington, II, 71
DOVER - John L. Harrington, II passed away peacefully at his home on April 22, 2023, with his beloved wife Aida at his side. John was born on December 14, 1951, in Dover, Delaware. He was the son of the late John Larer & Ollie Mae Harrington. Ollie Mae was a direct descendant of the Hatfield family, and John made sure everyone knew it.
After graduating proudly from Caesar Rodney High School, John enlisted into the United States Navy. While stationed in Puerto Rico, he met the love of his life, Aida Aviles, who he would eventually marry in 1974. After his career with the armed forces, he was employed and retired after 20 years of service as a Civil Servant at the Dover Air Force Base. It was during that time that he received his Business Degree from Delaware State University.
John actively worshipped and volunteered at Faith Community Church, where he was an elder.
When not working, he enjoyed playing, coaching, and watching baseball. Playing cards and practical jokes with family, were other big passions for John.
He is survived by his wife, Aida; daughters, Beverly Fernandez (and her husband Nelson) & Stacy Muldrow; grandchildren, Vidal Harrington (wife Crystal), Nylah Muldrow, Cheyenne Fernandez & Kailani Fernandez; his sister, O. Rebecca Grant; brother-in-law, Lee R. Grant,; mother-in-law, Nicolasa Aviles; many nieces, nephews, and extended family & friends.
Funeral Service Friday, April 28, 2023, 11 am at Faith Community Church, 2240 S. Dupont Hwy, Dover, DE; where friends may visit starting at 9 am. Interment to follow at Sharon Hills Memorial Park, Dover, DE.
Memorials may be made to Delaware Hospice.
