HARTLY - John L. Hamilton, of Hartly, formerly of Aldan, Pa., passed away on Aug. 23, 2011. He was 83. He was born in Ridley Township, Pa., the son of the late James and Margaret Hamilton. He moved to DE in 1980. John was a Marine Corps veteran, and was self-employed for many years as a general contractor before becoming disabled and spending the remaining 35 years of his life in a wheelchair. He had been a Little League coach in Aldan for many years, and was an active member of First Presbyterian Church, Smyrna, for many years. He was an avid Yankees and Phillies fan. He was preceded in death by a son, Andrew R. Hamilton; and a brother, James Hamilton. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, June M. Hamilton; two sons, Thomson Hamilton and his wife Tammy, and David Hamilton and his fiancée Lisa Costanzo; two step-children, Deborah Rey and J. Mark Sidor; a sister, Janet Wilson and her husband George; seven grandchildren, Debbie, Joshua, Zackry, Marriah, Morgan, Michael, and Samantha; one great-grandson, Lucas; and many nieces, nephews, and friends. Services will be held 11 a.m., Tuesday, Aug. 30, at First Presbyterian Church, 118 W. Commerce St., Smyrna. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent to First Presbyterian Church, 118 W. Commerce St., Smyrna, DE 19977. To send a condolence letter, visit www.delmarvaobits.com.
