    Avondale, PA. - John Howard Yerkes died May 1, 2025 after a long illness.
    Born on March 28, 1943, John was the son of Robert H. Sr., and Eleanor. He was the third born of seven children and enjoyed a happy childhood living in Houston.
    John honorably served our country in the Army National Guard for six years.
    John’s career led him to the printing business as a linotype operator at the Milford Chronicle for eight years. In 1970, he operated the family restaurant, Boulevard Restaurant, following his father-in-law’s death. After selling the restaurant, John found his love of sales, working as a sales manager for Fisher Appliance, Boulevard Electric and Sears for thirty years.
    He was a member of the Milford Kiwanis Club. His hobbies included reading, playing golf and watching old movies, especially Westerns. Most of all he loved spending time with his family.
    He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Cheryl, his daughter, Amber (Kerry,) and grandsons, Ethan and Riley, who brought a great deal of joy to him in his later years. He also is survived by four siblings, Robert, Ruth, Laura and Bill, and numerous nieces and nephews.
    Preceded in death are his parents, Robert and Eleanor, his siblings, Ted and Helena, and nephews, Robbie and Lloyd.
    A Memorial Service will be held at 11AM on Monday, May 12th at Rogers Hovatter Funeral Home, 301 Lakeview Ave., Milford, with visitation starting at 10AM.
    Interment will be private.
