John Henry Hubbard Sr., 89 ROCK HALL, Md. - John Henry Hubbard Sr., 89, of Rock Hall, died Feb. 5, 2010, in Chester River Hospital, Chestertown, Md. Mr. Hubbard was born on May 21, 1920 in Rock Hall, son of the late Tilghman and Della Jones Hubbard. He graduated from Rock Hall High School class of 1937. He was a WWII U.S. Army Veteran serving as a sergeant with the 320 Infantry under General George Patton in the European Theatre including the Ardennes, Rhineland, and Central Europe Campaigns. From 1946 to 1974 he and his wife lived and worked in Baltimore, returning to Rock Hall after his wife's retirement. Henry's career as a truck driver spanned over 50 years, retiring from Preston Trucking Company. He was a member of Rock Hall United Methodist Church, Rock Hall American Legion Post 228, a life member of Millington VFW Post 652 and Lafayette Masonic Lodge #111, Cockeysville, Md. He loved life and his daughter's yellow Lab "Bella". Mr. Hubbard was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Dorothy A. Hubbard in 2004; three sisters, Kathleen Hayes, Enid Larrimore, and Charlotte Clements; and a grandson, David Elburn. He is survived by his daughter, Nancy A. Hubbard of Rock Hall; a son, John H. 'Jack' Hubbard Jr. of Tampa, Fla.; four grandchildren, Denise, Danny, Kelley and Brian; five great-grandchildren, Beth, Jessica, Hillary, Zachary, and Andrew; two great-great-grandchildren, Colby and Alyssa; and his loving nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral service will be 2 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 13, in Rock Hall United Methodist Church, where friends may call one hour prior to service. Interment in Wesley Chapel Cemetery, Rock Hall.
