Young and Annie Dell Young Frazier. John received his early education from the Slaughter Neck School and then helped his father with the family farm. Upon the death of his father, he became the sole proprietor of the farm. John was known to lend a helping hand to all, regardless of the need. He also had a great sense of humor which he maintained during his illness. During his stay at various medical facilities, he was well liked by all medical staff. He was often referred to as a "kind and loving" person. John was a good provider and taught his children the importance of hard work. He will be truly missed by all. John accepted Jesus Christ as his lord and savior at an early age at Siloam AME Church. He was a lifelong member of Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church where he participated in the following: Gospel and Senior choirs, United Methodist Men and Board of Trustees. In addition, he was an active member of the Royal Lights Quartette and the Blackston Chorus. John was preceded in death by his wife, Sophia T. Young; and his brother; Robert A. Young. He leaves five children to cherish his memories, Evalynn Brunswick of Dover, Ada Ellen Smith (Randall) of Newark, Neville W. Houston of Slaughter Neck, Lamont A. Young (Venita) of Fayetteville, N.C., and Barbarette Young-Henry (Parish) of Newark; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; one sister, Elsie Y. Cephas of Slaughter Neck; one sister-in-law, Thorris R. Brown of Slaughter Neck; and a host of other relatives and friends. The family would like to especially thank the staff at Delaware Hospice Center for the exceptional care they provided to John.
