John Franklin Husfelt Sr.

MIDDLETOWN - John Franklin Husfelt Sr., of Middletown, Del., passed away peacefully while under Hospice Care on Dec. 11, 2013 in Seaford, Del. John (Zeke) was born in Middletown, Del., to George and Lillian Husfelt on May 10, 1933. After graduating high school, he proudly entered the military and U.S. Marine Corp / Semper Fi. He was a veteran of the Korean War and served in the Marines and The Delaware National Guard for over thirty years and was awarded numerous combat medals. He married Virginia Reed in Wilmington, Del. He worked over thirty years for Wilco Company. He was an avid horseman and proud owner of his beloved Orbit Boy. John is survived by Virginia Martin; daughter and son-in-law, Debi and Guy Malool of Hilton Head Island, S.C.; son, Frank Jr. of Middletown, Del.; four grandchildren, Hayley Owino, Guy Malool II, Gregory Malool and Bradley Malool; and two great-grandsons, Max and Gordon Owino. John is also survived by his very special long time personal companion, friend, partner and the love of his life, Carmella Bowden; and her daughter, Andrea Adams. Memorials may be given to The Wounded Warrior Project, PO BOX 758517, Topeka, KS 66675. Services will be held privately at a later date with inurnment at the Delaware Veterans National Cemetery. The family wishes to extend their sincere thanks to all of his long time special friends, co-workers, care takers and the wonderful place he called home for over eighty years, The First State, Delaware.
