GEORGETOWN - John Elgin Ross III, of Georgetown, passed away on Saturday, Oct. 9, 2010, in the Delaware Hospice Center in Milford. He was 88. Mr. Ross was born the son of the late John Elgin and Lucy (Davies) Ross II. He was a Contract Administrator for Unysis Corporation for 25 years. Mr. Ross was a Navy Veteran of WWII and a survivor of Pearl Harbor. Mr. Ross was a member of Sussex Post #8 American Legion. He and his wife were bell ringers for the Salvation Army. He was an avid bicyclist and enjoyed taking long rides, and he also enjoyed sail boating and deep sea fishing. In addition to both parents, Mr. Ross was preceded in death by his wife, Pansie (Fleetwood) Ross in 2009; and his brother, Bob Ross. He is survived by a son, John Charles Ross and his wife Linda of Rockville, Md.; and a daughter, Cathy Magee and her husband David of Georgetown; and two grandchildren, Andrew and Michael Ross. A funeral service will be 11:30 a.m., Wednesday, Oct. 13, 2010, in the Chapel of Short Funeral Services, 609 East Market Street, Georgetown, where friends may call after 10:30 a.m. Burial will be at the Delaware Veterans Cemetery in Millsboro. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Salvation Army, P.O. Box 1304, Millsboro DE 19966.
