John Edward Mitchell, 72 DOVER - John Edward Mitchell, of Dover, died at his home on June 17, 2010. He was 72. John was a graduate of Caesar Rodney High School, Salisbury State and East Carolina. He worked as an elementary teacher and principal in Maryland and Delaware and taught at the Delaware State Correctional Center in Smyrna until his retirement. John and Dorothy also traveled widely throughout the US, Canada and the world, visiting all the continents including Antarctica. He is survived by his wife of 49+ years, Dorothy, as well as children, Jo Ann Fuess of Lincoln, Neb., Steven Mitchell of Severna Park, Md., and Mark Mitchell of Mansfield, Texas; four grandchildren; his sister, Doris Cohee of Dover; and a number of nieces and nephews.
