John Alfred Klecan

SUDLERSVILLE, Md. - John Alfred Klecan passed away on Saturday, Apri. 8, 2017, at Kent General Hospital, in Dover.
Mr. Klecan was born in Goldsboro, Md., on Oct. 31, 1940, the son of the late Emma "Thorpe" and William Klecan.
As a young boy he worked for neighboring farms, and Jarrels Cannery, in 1958 he graduated from Greensboro High School. Mr. Klecan entered into the United States Army, and served his country for two years. After his discharge, he came home and went to work for Johnson Controls, where he eventually retired in 2000, after 38 years. In his younger years he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and crabbing, and later in life he enjoyed watching baseball, football, working in his garage, and planting in his garden, with his John Deere Tractor. John Klecan, known to some as, Alfred and better as Pop Pop, will be dearly missed.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his late wife, Jo Ann Klecan; two sisters, Elsie Greenley, Dorothy Sard; and two brothers, George Edward Klecan, and Charles William Klecan.
He is survived by six sisters, Adelaide Klecan, Ruth Sane (Chris), Joan Engelsiepen (Dick), Edith Greenley, Shirley McNamire (William), Betty Smith (Eric); two brothers, Louis Klecan (Carloyn), James Klecan (Tina); two grandchildren, Ashley Nicole Lukaszewicz, Paul Michael Lukaszewicz; and four great-grandchildren, Adelynne, Abby, Paul III, Timothy.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, Apr. 22, 2017, at 4 p.m., at Calvary Asbury United Methodist Church, in Sudlersville, Md.
Food and fellowship will be held in the church hall following the service.
