CLAYTON - John A. Wood, passed away on Saturday, Sept. 1, 2012. Mr. Wood was born on Jan. 1, 1926, in Richmond, Ind., the son of the late Harry and Sarah Wood. He served his country with honor in the United States Army during World War II and the Korean War. He worked for many years as a Water Plant Maintenance Man until his retirement. John enjoyed hunting and fishing. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, John Allen Wood. He is survived by three children, Rose, Jonathan and Jean. A viewing will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 5, 2012 from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. in the Faries Funeral Chapel, located at 29 S. Main St., Smyrna. Burial services will follow at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Bear, DE at 11 a.m. Condolence letters may be sent by visiting www.fariesfuneralhome.com.
