DOVER - Joel A. Hoopengardner, 45, of Dover, died May 30, 2011 at the Delaware Hospice Center in Milford. Born in Dover, he was the son of Charles J.W. (Chuck) and Christine (Laudato) Hoopengardner. Joel had been a construction contractor until illness forced his retirement. He was an avid NASCAR fan and was a motorcycle enthusiast. He will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved him. Besides his parents he is survived by his son, Jeremey Furman, of Dover; one brother, John W. Hoopengardner, of Harrington; along with two nephews, John W. Hoopengardner Jr. and Connor Weaver, both of Harrington. Relatives and friends are invited to a Mass of Christian Burial on Friday, June 3, 2011 at 1 p.m. at Holy Cross Catholic Church, 631 S. State St. Dover, where a Visitation will be held starting at 12 p.m. Private interment will take place in Holy Cross Cemetery, Dover. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to The Wellness Community Delaware, 812 S. Bradford St., Dover DE, 19904 (302-734-0898).
