DOVER — Joe Lehman Myer, born December 14, 1950, in Lancaster, PA to Caleb Hershey Myer and Eleanor Lehman Myer, passed away on May 29, 2026.
Joe grew up in Lancaster County, attending Hempfield High School and Elizabethtown College, where he met his future wife, Donna. He later earned his MBA from Delaware State University. His career in affordable housing began with volunteer work in the Mississippi Delta and continued in Delaware, where he helped found NCALL (now NeighborGood Partners). Serving as Executive Director for 37 years, he dedicated his life to expanding housing opportunities and strengthening communities across Delmarva.
Joe was a devoted member of Bethany Church of the Brethren, where he served as Board Chair and Deacon. He enjoyed cars, trains, sports, and time outdoors. His greatest joy was spending time with his family, especially golfing with his sons, Matt and Dan. He was incredibly proud of the men they became and the lives they built.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his former wife, Donna.
Joe is survived by his sister, Nancy Snyder; his sons, Matthew (Nicole) and Daniel (Emily); his granddaughter, Emma; and extended family.
A memorial service will be held June 27, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Bethany Church of the Brethren in Greenwood, DE.
