JoAnn C. Hoiles

DOVER - JoAnn C. Hoiles passed away Tuesday, Jan. 23, 2018 at Kent General Hospital.
Mrs. Hoiles was born July 8, 1935 in Clarksburg, W.Va. to the late Edwin Cummins and Grace Hale Cummins. She considered Larchmont, N.Y. her hometown. She graduated from Mamaroneck Senior High School in 1953 and earned her BA at Bucknell University. Mrs. Hoiles earned three Master's degrees, MA from New York University, MBA from Rider College, and ED.S (Education Specialist) from Rutgers University.
She was a college professor at Raritan Valley Community College in Branchburg, N.J. and taught business subjects for over 25 years. Mrs. Hoiles was a member of the Eastern Star in Flemington and Trenton, N.J. On Feb. 9, 1957 she married her husband and moved often while he served in the United States Marines Corps. Mrs. Hoiles enjoyed reading, traveling, her cats, and volunteering.
She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Edwin K. Hoiles of Dover; son, Geoffrey Hoiles of Minneapolis; daughter, Jennifer Hoiles Sweeney of Summit, N.J.; grandchildren, Shane Hoiles, Jason and Brennan Deutsch; and several cousins.
Graveside services will be held 1:30 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 8, 2018 at Washington Crossing National Cemetery, 830 Highland Road, Newtown, PA 18940.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions be made to The American Cancer Society, 92 Reads Way, #205, New Castle, DE 19720.
