Joan 'Johnnie' Flach, 83 DOVER - Joan "Johnnie" Flach, 83, of Dover, passed away April 23, 2010, at Kent General Hospital. She was born on July 12, 1926, in Warrington, England, daughter of the late William and Florence Barber. Johnnie enjoyed life as a homemaker. She volunteered for the Kent General Hospital Junior Board for 32 years where she was President and co-president. For many years she was shop manager where she would oversee the employee charges. Johnnie was proud of 24,683 hours she had with the Junior Board. She enjoyed doing silk flower arrangements where they would be on display at the hospital shop. She was past president for Parents without Partners. Johnnie was preceded also in death by her husband, Charles Flach in 1975; and a close friend, Frank Vadakin. She is survived by a daughter, Pauline Parrott of Dover; a son, Charles E. Flach Jr. and his wife Leslie of Escondido, Calif.; two grandchildren, Christina Burke of Centreville, Md., and Monica J. Rash of Camden; five great-grandchildren, Steven, Colin, Ethan, Samuel, and Julia; and two sisters, Sheila Rowlands and Alwyn Webb, both of England. Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, April 29, at the Pippin Funeral Home, 119 W. Camden-Wyoming Ave., Wyoming. Service will be 11 a.m., Friday, at the funeral home. Burial will follow at a later date in Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, Va., next to her late husband. Letters of condolence can be sent via www.pippinfuneralhome.com.
