
Jeannette C. Donavon 1929-2020
SMYRNA - Jeannette C. Donavon, age 91, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, December 27, 2020 at Pinnacle Rehab Center in Smyrna.
Jeannette Chambers Donavon was born in Felton, Delaware on September 3, 1929 to the late Luther J. and Alta Rash Chambers.
At an early age, her family moved to Smyrna, Delaware where she graduated from John Bassett Moore High School.
After graduation, she married William C. Donavon, Sr. on June 19, 1948. Together they would share 72 years of wedded bliss until his passing on August 29, 2020.
During their years together, she was a stay at home mom eventually working for the Delaware Home and Hospital retiring after 27 years as a C.N.A.
Jeannette was a member of Ewell's St. Paul U.M.C. over 65 years where she served on various committees. She also served as chairperson for the Smyrna/Clayton food pantry for several years, volunteered at the Salvation Army, and was a member of the VFW Post 8801 Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed helping others.
Besides her parents; Jeannette was pre-deceased by her husband on August 29, 2020; brothers, Jennings "Turk" Chambers, Edward Chambers, Harold Chambers; and sisters, Agnes Holland, Vivian Sammons, Beatrice Whalen, and Marjorie Jarvis.
Jeannette is survived by her children, William C. Donavon, Jr. and wife Lynda of Dover, Gary Donavon and wife Bobbie Jean of Massey, Maryland, and Lisa Outten and husband Louis of Townsend. Also surviving to cherish her memory are seven grandchildren and nine great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews; brother-in-law, Charles D. Donovan; and her special family friend, Rick Smith of Pasadena, Texas.
Due to Covid 19 restrictions, funeral services will be private at the convenience of the family.
