Jean R. Hill, 69 MILFORD - Jean R. Hill, 69, died Wednesday, June 23, 2010, at Bay Health Medical Center, Milford. Born in Milford, she was the daughter of the late Eugene Ernest Rogers and Ida Stogdon Rogers. Mrs. Hill attended Milford Elementary School and graduated Milford High School in June, 1959. She married Benton G. Hill on Aug. 7, 1959, and was married 43 years when Benton passed away. Benton and Jean farmed since 1963 until he passed away in 2002. The family farm will celebrate 100 years in the Hill Family (Sept. 22, 1910) which is 5 generations who have farmed the family farm. Mrs. Hill served on the Southern States Advisory Committee in 1972. She was a member of the Calvary United Methodist Church since 1953 and a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Carlisle Fire Co. since 1954. She was a very active member and a Charter and Lifetime member. Mrs. Hill served as treasurer of the Auxiliary for 29 years. She was Lady of the Year in 1993. Also she served on many committees over the years; Ways and Means, Purchasing, By-Laws, Bingo: Kitchen Chairman preparing many dinners and wedding receptions. Mrs. Hill enjoyed NASCAR, country music and collecting plates and antiques. She was preceded in death by her husband, Benton G. Hill (2002); her parents, Eugene and Ida Rogers; brothers, Bruce W. Rogers; grandparents, Ernest and Caddie Rogers, Lillie and Francis Stogdon; special Aunt and Uncle Mildred and Milbourne Berridge; mother-in-law, Alice J. Hill; and brother-in-law, Wayne L. Hill. She is survived by two children, Penny H. Hampton and her husband Terry Turcotte, and Marvin E. Hill and his wife Tina; her grandchildren, Keith E. Hill, Sarah E. Hampton and Wendy L. Hill; brother and sister-in-law, Richard Rogers and wife Faye; sister and brother-in-law, Shirely Rogers Jester and her husband Richard; brothers and sisters-in-law, Steven Rogers and his wife Patricia, Kenneth Rogers and his wife Maude, Carolyn Hill, Shirley Baker, and Eugene Hill; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral services were 2 p.m., Sunday, June 27, in the Chapel of Berry-Short Funeral Home, 119 NW Front Street, Milford, where friends called Saturday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. Interment was in Milford Community Cemetery, Milford.
