HARRINGTON - Jean Marie Trotta, of Harrington, died Monday, Aug. 30, 2010, at Bayhealth-Milford Memorial Hospital. She was 78. Mrs. Trotta was a homemaker. She enjoyed collecting various items and looked forward to the shopping trips, sales, and auctions to find these items. Auctions were a top priority, as she enjoyed the hunt. She was also a great cook. She enjoyed cooking all the time, and looked forward to Christmas when she could bake her cookies, fudge and everything else that goes along with the holiday. She also looked forward to giving presents to her family, and spending time with them. The trait that she will be remembered for is her honesty. She was set in her ways, and would tell you exactly what was on her mind, but she was also very giving. Her family was her life, and especially loved spoiling her grandchild and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Floyd and Marie Messick. She is survived by her loving husband of 57 years, Jesse Trotta Jr. of Harrington; son, Michael Trotta of Harrington; brother, Robert "Bobby" Messick of Farmington; granddaughter, Margo Moyer of Harrington; great-grandchildren, Karinne, Kallie, Kurt, Cael, and Kyra Moyer. Services will be 11 a.m., Wednesday, Sept. 8, 2010, in Melvin Funeral Home, 15522 S. DuPont Hwy., Harrington, where a visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 7. Interment will be in Hollywood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the St. Bernadette Building Fund, 109 Dixon St., Harrington, DE 19952. Arrangements are by the Melvin Funeral Home, Harrington.
