Jean M. Sellers, 90
CAMDEN - Jean M. Sellers passed away, Tuesday, November 28, 2023, at Kent General Hospital.
Mrs. Sellers was born August 2, 1933, in Tasley, Virginia to the late William Burleigh Martin and Lottie Tull Martin. At the age of 12 her family moved to Federalsburg, MD, where she graduated from Federalsburg High School as part of the first class to complete twelve years. She then attended Goldey Beacom College.
She worked for Caroline Poultry from 1952 to 1954. In 1953 she married Elwood Sellers and started a family. Mrs. Sellers drove a school bus for Cools Bus Service in the Caesar Rodney School District for 30 years. She had also worked 16 years in retail at Leggett's, Strawbridge's and Macy's in the Dover Mall. Mrs. Sellers was very proud to be involved with the 34th District Democratic Committee prior to moving on to work at the Department of Elections in 1995. She worked full-time at the Department of Elections for 22 years, retiring at age 84.
Jean was a dedicated member of the Loyal Order of the Moose and the Women of the Moose within the Harrington lodge, as well as the Harrington Senior Center. She enjoyed sitting outdoors to read and to watch the birds in her backyard. During baseball season if the Baltimore Orioles were on TV you could find her watching every game from start to finish. Like many other longtime fans, she thoroughly enjoyed the 2023 season and knew every player by their first name. Jean loved traveling to conventions all over the country with the Women of the Moose and going on bus trips to local restaurants and shows with her friends coordinated by the Harrington Senior Center. Jean was known by many for her love of dancing and made it to the dance floor at every wedding she attended. She loved to give hugs and to bring smiles to the faces of others. Jean loved her family deeply and spent as much time as she could with them. She had a heart of gold and would go out of her way to do anything she could for those in need.
In addition to her parents; she was preceded in death by her husband, Elwood Sellers; son, Kenny Sellers; son-in-law, Tom Paich; and was also the last of five siblings.
