Jean Carr Flanagan, 87

DOVER - Jean Carr Flanagan, of Dover, died Tuesday, Oct. 21, 2008, in Kent General Hospital. She was 87. Mrs. Flanagan was born June 19, 192,1 in Wilmington, to the late Homer Carr and Beaula Montgomery Carr. She was a homemaker and President of the Junior Board at Kent General Hospital. Prior to her marriage she had worked as an executive secretary for Hercules Powder Company. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Grace Dougherty. Mrs. Flanagan is survived by her husband of 54 years, Dr. William Watkins Flanagan Jr., DDS of Dover; two sons, Robert C. Flanagan of Dover, William W. Flanagan III of Pittsburgh, Pa.; sister, Doris Twigg of Wilmington; two grandchildren, Mara C. and William W. Flanagan IV and three nieces. A celebration of life will be held 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 24, 2008, at the Presbyterian Church of Dover, 54 S. State Street, Dover. Arrangements by Torbert Funeral Chapel, Dover. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to Wills Eye Hospital – Maculate Degeneration Program, 840 Walnut Street, Philadelphia, PA 19107 or Kent General Hospital, 640 S. State Street, Dover, DE 19901. Letters of condolences may be sent, and guestbook signed, at torbertfuneral.com.
