Janie Mae Wells, 62

MILTON - Janie Mae Wells, of Milton, departed her earthly life on Wednesday, March 4, 2009, at Christiana Hospital in Wilmington. She was 62. She was born in Randolph County, Shellman, Ga., to the late Mr. Willis Tillman Sr. and Mrs. Cleolar Perry Tillman on March 21, 1946. She attended public school in Randolph County public school system. She was introduced to God and his teaching at an early age and whiling living in Georgia she attended Zion Rock Baptist Church before moving to Delaware. While living in Delaware, she worked for Draper Canning Company in Milton, and Allen's Family Foods in Harbeson. Janie loved to spend time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She was a kind woman, full of life and always expecting and giving smiles and hugs along the way. She was a member of St. John 2nd Baptist Church, Mt. Joy Road, Millsboro. She previously attended Holy Bethel Church in Milton. She was preceded in death by two sisters and three brothers, Ms. Ella Ree Tillman, Mrs. Willie B. Lightner, Mr. Willis Tillman, Mr. Edward Tillman, and Mr. Eddie B. Tillman. She leaves to cherish her precious memories a loving and devoted husband of 25 years, Haven Wells of Milton; a loving daughter and son-in-law, Mrs. Mary Bailey and Mr. Anthony Bailey of Milton; six grandchildren, David Collins of Harrington, William Wilson III of Georgetown, Phillip Wilson of Aurora, Colo., Dontez Collins of Milton, Tiffany Tillman of Georgetown, and Crystal Wilson of Milton; one step-grandson, Jordan Bailey of Seaford; four great-grandchildren, David Collins III and Daiymir Collins of Harrington, My'Aisha Handy of Millsoboro, and Jada Eley of Georgetown; four sisters, Mrs. Mammie Martin (Fred), Ms. Betty Brown and Ms. Wylene Tillman, all of Cuthbert, Ga., and Ms. Rosemary Greene of Salisbury, Md., six brothers, Mr. J.W. Tillman (Lee Ethel), Mr. Gene Tillman (Mary), Mr. Buddie Tillman (Annie Doris), Mr. Billy Tillman, and Mr. Sammie Tillman al of Cuthbert, Ga., and Mr. Rochester Tillman of Milton; two brothers-in-law; four sisters-in-law; and a host of nieces, nephews, friends, and other loving relatives. Services will be held 2 p.m. Sunday at St. John 2nd Baptist Church, Mt. Joy Road, Millsboro. A viewing will be one hour before the service. Burial will be in St. John 2nd Baptist Church Cemetery. Letters of condolences may be sent and guestbook may be signed at www.benniesmithfuneralhome.com. Arrangements are being handled by Bennie Smith Funeral Home, Milford.
