DOVER - Janet M. Gerber, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandma, and friend, passed away on July 4, 2023, surrounded by those who loved her. She was born on June 19, 1945, in Yonkers, NY, the daughter of Russell and Janet Woods.
Janet spent her childhood in New Jersey and Florida, and it was during her travels she met the love of her life, William Gerber. They embarked on a journey together, living in Germany for several years while William served overseas before finally settling in Delaware.
Throughout her life, Janet held various jobs, bookkeeping, housing manager, and one she enjoyed the most included traveling the east coast with Bill as they followed the carnival company with their Sausage Wagon in tow, creating many cherished memories together. Her final adventure she found great joy in driving school buses for special needs children, forming lasting friendships along the way. Janet had a passion for gardening and had a deep affection for all animals, especially her beloved family pets.
Janet was preceded in death by her parents, Russell and Janet Woods; her husband, William Gerber; her brother, Russell Woods Jr.; and her great-granddaughter, Lena McClucas – Cook.
She is survived by her daughter, Tandi Anderson; her grandchildren, Brandy (J.T. Gregory) and Andrew Cook (Raveen Willis); her great-grandchildren, Lily and Lliam Cook; her pets, Roscoe, Snowball, Tank, Princess, Harley, and Precious; her special friends, Cory, Grace, and Mary; as well as her extended family and friends.
A memorial service to celebrate Janet's life will be held on Sunday, July 16, 2023, at 3 pm at Pippin Funeral Home in Wyoming, DE. Friends may gather starting at 2 pm. An interment service will take place on Monday, July 17, 2023, at 1 pm at Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Millsboro, DE.
Janet M. Gerber will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her, with her crazy hats and loud personality her memory will live on in the hearts of those who loved her. May she rest in peace.
