Jane Swann Dixon, 81

CENTREVILLE, Md - Jane Swann Dixon, of Centreville, died on Sunday, Dec, 7, 2008, in Corsica Hills Nursing Home in Centreville. She was 81. Born on June 3, 1927, in Crumpton, she was the daughter of the late, Oscar Swann and Lillian Boyce Swann. She was a graduate of Church Hill High School and attended Wesley College in Delaware. On Aug. 31, 1948, she married Richard E. Dixon a farmer from Centreville, and they spent their career farming in Centreville where she was a homemaker. She was a member of Centreville United Methodist Church in Centreville where she sang in the choir. She enjoyed horses and was active with the 4H activities over the years. Mrs. Dixon is survived by her beloved husband of 60 years, Richard Earl Dixon of Centreville; son, Richard "Dickie" E. Dixon Jr. of Hartley, Del.; daughter, Goldie Dixon Garner of Centreville,; son, Ronald L. Dixon of Dover, Del.; four grandchildren, Shana Corder; Ronald L. Dixon Jr., Richard E. Dixon III and Ryan Earl Dixon and 11 great-grandchildren. A daughter, Sharon Jean Dixon (1953) and twin sister, Jean Swann Hall (2003) both predeceased her. A funeral will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 10, 2008, at Fellows, Helfenbein and Newnam Funeral Home, P.A. in Centreville, where family and friends may call on Tuesday evening from 6 - 8 p.m. Burial will be in Chesterfield Cemetery in Centreville.
