James W. Vaughn

HARRINGTON - James "Chip" W. Vaughn, of Harrington, Del., died on Friday June 1, 2012 after a courageous battle with cancer at Bayhealth Medical Center. He was 51. He was born on Mar. 8, 1961 in Towanda, Pa., son of the late John W. Sr. and Loraine Mahon Vaughn. He was a 1979 graduate of North Caroline High School. Chip was employed at the Reichhold Chemical Co. for 23 years. He then worked with W. L. Gore, and his last employment was with the Eastern Shore Natural Gas Co. He enjoyed hunting, NASCAR, go kart racing with his son at Club Milton Speedway, but his true joy was spending time with his family. Chip is survived by his loving wife of 20 years, Candy Fleetwood Vaughn; his children, Gretchen Vaughn, Gavin Vaughn and Amanda Walls; his siblings, Wheaton Vaughn of Laurel, Del., Craven Vaughn of Towanda, Pa., Joyce Ringgold of Greensboro, Md., Wayne Vaughn of Greensboro Md., Jill Vaughn of Whitleysburg, Del., and Vaughn Vaughn of Greensboro, Md., Roy Shrimp of Towanda, Pa.; two grandchildren, Kamdin Wilson, KyLynn Grose; numerous nieces and nephews; and his K9 companions, Coco and Bella. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday June 5, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. in the Fleegle and Helfenbein Funeral Home in Greensboro, where relatives and friends may call Monday June 4, 2012 from 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. in the Fleegle and Helfenbein Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Greensboro Cemetery. Special thanks to all the doctors, nurses, the community and friends for all they have done on Chips behalf.
