HARTLY - James W. Gary, 66, of Hartly, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, Dec. 21, 2010, at the Milford Hospice Center. James was born Jan. 10, 1944, in Crumpton, Md., to the late Ernest and Angie (Dixon) Gary. He worked for the Capitol School District for 25 years retiring in 1991. James then worked for Genesis Eldercare at the Silver Lake Center and Heritage of Dover. He was a member of the Trinity Wesleyan Church in Dover, where he was very active. James was a founder of the Kent County Church Softball League managing the Trinity team for 30 years. He was a member of the Brunswick Thursday Night mixed bowling league. James loved all sports teams from Philadelphia. James was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Angie Gary; and a sister, Angie Estelle. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Karen Gary of Hartly; his children and their spouses, Jesse and Shari Gary of Magnolia, Tammy and Daniel Halsey of Dover and Jason Gary of Hartly; three grandchildren, Jeff Gary, Christopher and Emily Halsey; two brothers, E. Joseph Gary of Camden, David Gary of Wyoming; six sisters, Della Eiler of MS, Myrtle Clendaniel, Deborah Krupka of Hartly, Mary Sard of Wyoming, Rebecca Jackson of Bridgeville and Martha Mench of Dover. A visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m., Monday evening, Dec. 27, 2010, at the Trinity Wesleyan Church, 1564 S. State Street, Dover. Services will be held 11 a.m., Tuesday, Dec. 28, 2010, with additional visitation one hour prior at church. Interment will be at Sharon Hills Memorial Park, Dover. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to the Trinity Church or Milford Hospice Center, 100 Patriots Way, Milford, DE 19963. Letters of condolence may be sent, and guestbook signed at www.torbertfuneral.com.
