HARTLY - James Thomas Telford, of Hartly, died peacefully Friday, April 29, 2011, at home surrounded by his loving family. He was 69. Jim was born in Lansing, Mich., and was raised in Brooklyn and Babylon, N.Y., by his parents Bill and Marilyn Flanagan. Jim served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War and retired after 32 years from the State of New Jersey Department of Community Affairs. Mr. Telford was a member of the Unitarian Universalist Church of Central Dover. The joy of his life was spending time with his family and friends, especially his grandchildren. He was an animal lover, carrying dog biscuits in his pockets wherever he went. He was an avid ham radio operator, and enjoyed hunting, fishing, fly-tying and bird watching. He loved travelling and enjoyed all of nature. He was a strong and kind man who touched the lives of many people. He taught us all how to live life to its fullest, to overcome our challenges, and to live life on life's terms. Mr. Telford was preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Marilyn Flanagan; and his brother, Pat Flanagan. He is survived by his best friend and wife of 11 years, Gloria Gross of Hartly; daughters, Sheryl Telford and her husband Mark Grocott of Riverton, N.J., Kim McNally and her husband Ryan of Mullica Hill, N.J.; the mother of his children, Carol Telford Stewart of Burlington Township, N.J.; brothers, Mike Flanagan and his wife Anna of Ann Arbor, Mich., Tom Flanagan and his wife Janis of Turnersville, N.J., Pete Flanagan and his wife Kelly of Tabernacle, N.J.; sisters, Kathy Fleming and her husband Bill of Woodbury, N.J., Maureen Marcus of Marlton, N.J., Tara Rambo and her husband Gus of Turnersville, N.J.; grandchildren, McKenna McNally, Ryan McNally Jr., Heidi Fuchs, Alecia Fuchs, Briana Smith, Nicholas Sylvester, and Cheyenne Sylvester; and many nieces, nephews and friends. Services will be held Thursday, May 5 at 10 a.m. at Christ Church, Riverton, NJ 08077
