James Robert Childress, 74

FELTON - James Robert Childress, of Felton, died Wednesday, Aug. 19, 2009, at home. He was 74. Mr. Childress was born Dec. 10, 1934, in Gary, W.Va., to the late Linnie F. Childress and Annie Lee Bryant. He had worked at Cogelum Flooring Company retiring in 1986. Mr. Childress enjoyed hunting, fishing, working in his yard but especially spending time with his grandchildren. Mr. Childress was preceded in death by a son, James R. Childress Jr.; a daughter, Theresa Lynn Childress; two brothers, Jackie Ray and Billy Joe Childress; and his sister, Fiffie Ann Yates. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Agnes Louise Combs Childress of Felton; three sons, Frankie E. Childress of Kehma, Texas, Robert E. Childress of Nottingham, Pa., and Anthony J. Childress of Felton; four daughters, Mary A. Weis of Prospect Park, Pa., Darlene E. Donaldson of Peach Bottom, Pa., Vicki S. Moore of Dover, and Trina A. DeMaio of Boothwyn, Pa.; 16 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be 4 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 22, at Torbert Funeral Chapel South, 1145 E. Lebanon Road South, (Rt.10), Dover. Friends may call one hour prior. Interment will be 10 a.m., Monday, Aug. 24, at Woodlawn Memorial Park, Bluefield, W.Va. Letters of condolence may be sent, and guest book signed at www.torbertfuneral.com.
