SMYRNA - James R. Ford passed away peacefully on Monday, Feb. 15, 2016 at his home. He was born Mar. 2, 1927, in Kenton, the son of the late Raymond and Clara Ford. He served his country with honor in the U.S. Navy during WWII. Jim was a life member of Citizens Hose Fire Company of Smyrna, a member of the Lions Club and a member of Asbury United Methodist Church of Smyrna. He was also a member of the Harmony Lodge of Smyrna, where he served as Past Master. He was one of the founding members of the Smyrna-Clayton Little League, where he coached the "Lions" for several years. He was in agricultural products sales for many years and owned and operated Ford Seed Service. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Warren and Allen Ford. He is survived by his three daughters, Linda Hudson and her husband Robin of Milford, Marcia Dixon and her husband Marty of Kenton, and Kim Jester and her husband Gerald of Georgetown; five grandchildren, Jimmy Hudson, Brittany Fuchs, Brooke Dixon, Brandy Magee and Lauralee Jester; four great grandchildren; and his brother, Jack Ford. He is also survived by his special friend and companion, Peg Phillips. A visitation will be held from 4 pm to 6 pm on Thursday, February 18, 2016 at the Faries Funeral Chapel, located at 29 S. Main Street in Smyrna. Funeral services will begin at 6 pm. Burial with military honors will be held on Friday, February 19, 2016 at 10 am at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Bear, DE.
