SMYRNA - James Preston Cruson Sr. M.B., passed away peacefully in the family home, on Wednesday, Dec. 10, 2008, shortly after the weekly family dinner gathering. He spent his 57 married years devoted to his best gal and loving wife, Dorris E. Cruson. He spent his early years as an Apprentice Barber under the guidance of Mr. Joe Shelton. In those early times, he worked tirelessly to help trim down the local groundhog population, as this was a popular local pastime of that era. He spent a hitch in the Delaware Army National Guard at the Smyrna Unit, and served honorably as a Medic. He was a lifelong member of the Smyrna Business Community, serving the public as a Master Barber for 59 years. He enjoyed bowling for decades with his wife and friends. He pursued a lifelong passion for fishing with his wife and various fishing buddies in the Delaware Bay. His life was rich with his family, his lifelong friends and acquaintances. He was preceded in death by his mother, Mona Foxwell; and his two sisters, Betty Wharff and Jeanette Foxwell. Immediate family survivors include his son, James P. Cruson Jr. and his wife Denise, and Dorris E. Wheeler and her husband Frank. Surviving grandchildren are, James P. Cruson III and fiancé Jacqueline, Lindsey Buckson and her husband Richard, Shawn Cruson and fiancé Cassie, and Steven and Tanya Wheeler. The great-grandchildren, whom he treasured are, Madison Cruson, Kaydence Buckson, Jimmy Cruson IV, Hunter Cruson, and Talon Buckson. He enjoyed extended family members, Brooke Husfelt and Austin Casey at all family events. Services will be Monday, Dec. 15, 2008 at 3 p.m. in the Faries Funeral Chapel, 29 S. Main St., Smyrna, where friends may call one hour prior to the services. Burial will be in St. Peter's Episcopal Cemetery Smyrna.
