CLAYTON - James Paul Vandetti III, of Clayton, died Tuesday, Dec. 16, 2008, in Bayhealth-Kent General Hospital. He was 51. Mr. Vandetti was born Jan. 3, 1957, in Elkton, Md., the son of the late James P. Vandetti II and Joyce Kuhns Vandetti. He resided with his sister and brother-in-law in Little Creek. Mr. Vandetti worked as a welder for several years. He enjoyed hunting, the outdoors and he loved children. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Roy Vandetti; his lifetime girlfriend, Sheri Lynn Whalen; a nephew, James Lowman II and a niece, Billie Joe Lowman. He is survived by his daughter, Brittany Leigh Whalen; his sisters, Melonie Jarman and her husband, Mark with whom he lived, Tammy Johnson and her husband Gene of Cheswold, Chris Lowman and her companion Roger Kemp of Kenton; his brothers, Forrie Vandetti of Camden, and Nick Vandetti and Wanda Carney of Dover; seven nephews; six nieces; four great nephews; three great nieces and one on the way. He also had many, many friends and you all know who you are. Services will be Monday December 22, 2008 at 1 p.m. in the Faries Funeral Chapel, 29 South Main Street Smyrna, Delaware where friends may call one hour prior to the services. Burial will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery Smyrna. Arrangements are by Faries Funeral Directors and Crematorium Inc., 29 South Main St., Smyrna.
