James Kenneth Blasius, of Dover, passed away peacefully in his home, Thursday, August 18, 2022, surrounded by his loving family. He was 78.
James was born October 8, 1943 in Caro, Michigan to the late Kenneth & Betty (McGlaughlin) Blasius. He served proudly in the United States Air Force. After completing his military service he began working for General Motors in Saginaw, MI for 7 years. After relocating to Delaware in 1972, he worked as a Tinsmith for General Foods for 28 years before retiring.
James was a Member of the Free & Accepted Masons for 41 years, and a 32nd Degree Mason, serving with Union Lodge #7 in Dover, and the Order of the Scottish Right, Northern Masonic Jurisdiction in Wilmington. In his free time he enjoyed fishing, boating, and playing golf.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Douglas Blasius.
James is survived by his loving wife of 27 years, Thelma (Teat) Blasius; his daughter, Tammy Allison (Eddie), of Dover; a step-son Matthew "Marty" Rigby (Deanna), of Magnolia; a step-daughter, Diane Rigby (Audra), of Orlando, FL.; a brother, Tim Blasius (Eric), of Detroit, MI; a sister, Dawn Ewald, of Caro, MI; 5 grandchildren, Andrew Morris (Kelsi), Kaitlyn Simonetti (Rudy), Justin Sherwood, Jason Rigby & Jessica Rigby; and 3 great-grandchildren, Rhylee Simonetti, Ronan Morris & Raygen Clark.
A Masonic Service will be held 11 a.m., Monday, August 29, 2022, in the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 26669 Patriots Way, Millsboro, DE, followed by military honors.
