TOWNSEND - James J. Gallagher Sr., of Townsend, passed away on Sunday March 18, 2012. He was 80. He was born in Philadelphia, the son of the late Fraulz Librizzie and the late Mary Gallagher. He spent most of his life in the Townsend area. Mr. Gallagher was an Army veteran of the Korean War, and had been employed at the Chrysler Plant, Newark, for 22 years until his retirement. He enjoyed raising geese, ducks, and livestock, as well as attending various sales and auctions where he enjoyed socializing with his many friends. He is survived by four sons, Raymond of Townsend, James Jr. (wife Brenda) of Smyrna, Robert of Smyrna, and Neil of Harington; a sister, Virginia (husband Danny) Mellor of Philadelphia; four grandchildren, Gus, Amanda, and Kyle Gallagher, and Elizabeth Ksenich; and a very dear friend and her family, Sandy Evans of Townsend. Services will be noon, Wednesday March 21, at Matthews-Bryson Funeral Home, 123 W. Commerce St., Smyrna, where friends may call at 11 a.m. Burial will be privately held at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Bear.
