James Dudley 'Dud' Stevens, 90 GREENWOOD - James Dudley "Dud" Stevens, of Greenwood, died Saturday, April 3, 2010, at his daughter's home. He was born in Kenton to the late Frank W. and Lula Stevens. Mr. Stevens served his country proudly in the United States Army during World War II. He was a farmer for most of his life. He was a hard working person who always worked from sun up to sun down. He also owned several race horses, and helped with boarding, grooming and training of several others. In the sixties, he also drove a school bus. In his spare time, he enjoyed going out to eat to local restaurants. He will be greatly missed by his family and close friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Stevens; brothers, Franklin and Tommy; and sisters, Gladys, Dorothy "Dot," Ida, and Fairilee. He is survived by his daughters and son-in-law, Anna M. and Ronald Collins of Milford, and Lorraine Duncan of Milford; brother, Alphonso "Babe" Stevens of Greenwood; grandchildren, J.R. Jester, Janet Carrol, Philip Duncan, Veronica Jester, and Summer Melvin; and six great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be 1 p.m., Thursday, April 8, at Melvin Funeral Home, 15522 South DuPont Hwy., Harrington, where a visitation will be one hour prior. Interment will be in St. Johnstown Cemetery, Greenwood.
