MILFORD - James "Jimmy" C. Watkins, age 76, born May 7, 1934, went to be with the Lord on May 2, 2011, with his family at his side. He was the son of the late William and Mable Jones Watkins. He served in the National Guard and was foreman for Mil-Del Corp Overhead Door Company for over 37 years. He was also a farmer, loved gardening and sitting in the woods watching birds and deer. He enjoyed Bluegrass and Country music, but most of all he loved his family and being with them. He drove #67 stock car at Little Lincoln Speedway for two seasons. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 41 years, Irene "Patsy" Watkins in 1998; and two brothers, Ralph Watkins in 1995 and Oscar Watkins in 2007; and a grandson, Michael Watkins in 1984. He is survived by his six children, Doris Warren and husband Ronald, James G. Watkins and girlfriend, Helen Cleveland, Rick C. and wife Maria, Robert D. and wife Karen, Christine Shea and husband Joseph, Pamela Watkins and boyfriend Jose; 15 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren; and a longtime friend, Alfredo Micky Colon. He is also survived by his three brothers, Harvey and Richard of Houston and Leroy of Vineland, N.J.; seven sisters, Ruth Hastings of Lincoln, Martha Cartwright of Vineland, Edith Creed of Renton, Wash., Anna Payton, Sally Dawson and Kathy Bruns and Rosie Johnson, all of Houston. Funeral Services will be 11 a.m., Saturday, May 7, 2011, in the chapel of Berry-Short Funeral Home, 119 NW Front St., Milford, where friends may call Friday night from 6 to 8 p.m. Interment will be in Hopkins Cemetery, Felton. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the funeral home to defray funeral expenses.
