SEAFORD - James Allen "Jim" Covey Sr., of Seaford, passed away at his home on Saturday, June 25, 2011. He was 71. He was born Aug. 27, 1939, in Preston, Md., the son of the late Spencer Gray Covey and Cleota Williamson Covey. Jim was the owner/operator for Seaford Automatic Transmission Shop and was proprietor of Covey Auto Parts in Seaford and Easton for over thirty years. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Janet Baker Covey whom he married on Oct. 6, 1967; four children, James A. "Jay" Covey Jr. and his wife Melanie of Preston, Md., Jeffrey Edwin "Jeff" Covey and his wife Lisa of Preston, Md., Jenny Ann Chance and her husband Lloyd "Bunky" of Bozman, and Julia Ann Cohee and her husband Wesley of Preston, Md.; 14 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; four siblings, C. Kenneth Covey and his wife Connie, of Seaford, W. Edward Covey and his wife Ruth Ann, of Hurlock, Md., Gail Spearin of Seaford, and raised as a brother, Perry Blades of Denton, Md.; and many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by three sisters, Leora Peele, Shirley Towers, and Janice Brittingham. Funeral services were held on Wed. June 29, 2011 at 2 p.m. at the Framptom Funeral Home in Federalsburg, Md., with Rev. Robert W. Clagg and Rev. Denzil Cheek officiating. Interment followed in Spring Hill Cemetery in Easton. Friends called at the funeral home on Tues. from 6 to 9 p.m. and on Wed. one hour prior to the service. Memorial contributions may be made to Church of God, 425 E. Stein Highway, Seaford, DE 19973, or to VITAS Hospice, 1016 N. Walnut St., Milford, DE 19963.
