Ivamae Brown, 80
FELTON - On Monday, Oct. 6, 2008, Ivamae Brown, beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and reunited with her beloved husband of 51 years, Franklin. She was 80. Mrs. Brown worked alongside her husband on a dairy farm, driving tractors and doing all chores, before she settled down as a homemaker and tended to her family. In her spare time, she enjoyed working on jigsaw puzzles, dominoes, and playing numerous card games. She also loved to cook, can, and bake pies, cakes and cookies. Christmas time was her favorite time of year and she spent months baking her goodies to get ready for the season. Bible studies and church functions were a staple in her life, and regardless of the day or time, she made sure she had a ride to get there. Church dinners and family gatherings meant she was bringing her specialty, pretzel salad. At home, she grew a bountiful garden where she could be seen picking her lima beans. Gladiolas were her favorite flower and she grew many. Eating out for dinner was a favorite activity and she never missed her favorite game shows on television. Above all, she enjoyed spending time with her family and looked forward to family dinners and seeing all the grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Mrs. Brown was a member of the Manship Chapel. She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Donald W. and Bonita Brown of Felton, Benjamin F. and Diane Brown of Felton, Eugene R. and Helen Brown of Milford; daughters and sons-in-law, Shirley A. and Archie Carey of Felton, Mary Ellen and Walter Willey of Felton, Clara Marie and James Pinder of Harrington, Teresa Mae and Ralph Pinder of Felton; a sister, Jo Ann Ware of Florida; 11 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Friday in Melvin Funeral Home, 15522 South DuPont Hwy., Harrington. A visitation will Thursday evening from 7 to 9 p.m. Burial will be in Hopkins Cemetery, Felton. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Manship Chapel, c/o Lorraine Freese, 4912 Burnite Mill Road, Felton, DE 19943 or to the American Heart Assoc., Kent & Sussex Office, 1019 Mattlind Way, Milford, DE 19963.
