LEWES - Isabelle "Izzy" Gwendolyn Jackson, age 87, of Lewes, died Wednesday, Dec. 7, 2011, at Beebe Medical Center in Lewes, after a lengthy illness. Izzy as she was fondly called, was born September 9, 1924 to the late Pearl R. & Mary E. Cloud Wingo in Marion, Ohio. Isabelle worked for more than 26 years as a Cook at Angler's Restaurant in Lewes until it's closing, she then worked at the Sea Horse Restaurant in Rehoboth, retiring in 1988. Isabelle played baseball in high school, and also with the Shantytown Girls All Women's Negro League in Marion. Isabelle was an Associate member of St. George AME Church, attending services and helping the kitchen ministry as cook when ever dinners were prepared and served. She is survived by a daughter, Marjorie A. White of Buffalo, N.Y.; two sons, Raymond E. Jackson of Lewes and Vaughn L. Jackson of Milton; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Services will be 1 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 14, 2011 at St. George AME Church, 317 Park Ave. in Lewes. Friends may call two hours prior.
