Irvin J. 'Bud' Ross, 78

CLAYTON - Irvin J. "Bud" Ross, of Clayton, died Wednesday, Aug. 12, 2009, in Bayhealth Medical Center in Dover. He was 78. Mr. Ross was born June 21, 1931, in Wilmington, the son of the late Irvin S. Ross and Marie A. Ross. Bud enjoyed making people laugh and liked telling jokes and joking around with people. He was also a proud member of the NRA. Bud was a patriot who enlisted in the United States Air Force after graduation and is a veteran of the Korean War. Mr. Ross worked as a machinist for DuPont in Wilmington and retired after 35 years. He is survived by his loving wife, Joan F. Ross; his step-son, Jim E. Wilkinson of Woodland Park, Colo.; two sisters, Marie Wysocki and Connie Cianci, both of Wilmington; three brothers, Richard, Dave, and Bill Ross, all of Wilmington; and several nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be 12:30 p.m., Tuesday, Aug. 18, in the Faries Funeral Chapel located at 29 South Main Street, Smyrna, where friends may call at 11:30 a.m. Burial will be in the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery located in Bear, following the memorial service. Arrangements are by Faries Funeral Directors and Crematorium Inc., 29 South Main Street, Smyrna. Letters of condolence may be sent by visiting www.fariesfuneralhome.com.
