Investigation leads to drug, firearm arrest in Middletown

MIDDLETOWN — An 18-year-old Middletown man was arrested on drug and firearm charges Thursday, authorities said.

According to Middletown police, James Moore had allegedly been involved in drug dealing and weapon offenses. He was taken into custody without incident after two search warrants were executed in the 400 block of North Catherine Street, Middletown.

Police said a Polymer80 nonserialized firearm and 92 rounds of 9 mm ammunition were located. Additionally, 384 grams of marijuana packaged for sale, drug-packaging material and oxycodone, alprazolam and hydrocodone pills were recovered, as well as nearly $900 in suspected drug proceeds.

Mr. Moore was charged with possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, possession of a firearm by a person prohibited, possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance in a Tier 1 quantity, three counts of possession of a controlled substance and two counts of endangering the welfare of a child.

He was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 11, New Castle, and issued a $6,200 secured bond. He was then transported to Howard R. Young Correctional Institution, Wilmington.
