Interact Club helps Cambridge Rotary place flags

Posted

Seven members of the Cambridge-South Dorchester High School Interact Club helped members of the Rotary Club of Cambridge put out 200 United States flags for Rotary’s annual Flags for Heroes Project.

The Rotary Club raises the flags to recognize our country’s heroes, leaving them up from Memorial Day through Flag Day in June. With the berm at Sailwinds no longer available, the Rotary Club moved the flags to Long Wharf, putting some around the Memorial Fountain and the others on the grass near the marina. Each flagpole contains the name of veterans and other heroes sponsored by local citizens.

The Flags for Heroes project recognizes veterans, police, fire department members and EMTs. Money raised through sponsoring flags and from donations goes to local organizations including veteran activities.

The CSDHS Interact Club, which is sponsored by the Cambridge Rotary Club, has supported the club in raising the flags for a number of years. This year’s Interact member volunteers included Mia Jackson, president elect; Christina Hyde, secretary; Emma Robinson; Tyler Sears, vice president; Raschid McMillan; Trinity Murray; and Isabelle Hughes.
