The Delaware Coalition for Open Government and the Delaware Press Association will host “Ensuring Transparency and Accountability: Why Delaware Needs an Inspector General Now!” from 7-8:30 p.m. Monday.
The virtual panel discussion will be moderated by the coalition’s president, John Kowalko III, and focus on the need to establish an independent, nonpartisan Delaware Office of the Inspector General. A Q&A will follow.
Panel members will be:
• Stephen B. Street Jr., Louisiana’s inspector general since 2008.
• Sen. Laura Sturgeon, D-Woodbrook.
• Anitra Johnson, a reporter covering underserved communities.
• Sarah Bucic, co-chair of Lead-Free Delaware.
They will address the need for an impartial independent inspector general, who would have the responsibility of oversight and investigation to strengthen government integrity and public trust. Additionally, a bill establishing such an office will be discussed.
