Joseph Franklin Bothell III, affectionately known as "Sky King" during his trucking days, passed away on July 18, 2023, at the age of 81. Born on August 5, 1941 to Mary Ella Bryant and Joseph Franklin Bothell, Jr., Joe lived a life of service and unwavering faith.
Born in Chester, Pennsylvania, he as the oldest of four children. After graduating from high school, he served a tour in Vietnam as a member of the Air Force. Stationed in Hawthorne, Nevada, he met Johnii Katherine Tourney, who would become his wife of 56 years.
Joe was blessed with four children: Eileen Marie Sharp, Joseph Franklin Bothell IV, Aaron Jacob Bothell, and Amy Collins. He is survived by his wife and their fifteen grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. He is also survived by a sister, Charlotte Cherriman and a brother, Richard Bothell. He loved camping with his family and visiting his relatives.
He had an early love for flight and after his military service he earned both his private and commercial pilot licenses, briefly working as a flight instructor. He also loved motorcycles and once completed a trip to the four corners of the United States in eleven days. He loved music and would often play in jam sessions with his two brothers, Bill and Rick.
He was a devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He loved to share his faith and his example blessed his family and friends. Joe often spent his time and his handyman skills helping people. His acts of kindness, both big and small, touched the hearts of many.
