Ida Mae Briscoe, 79
TOWNSEND - Ida Mae Briscoe, of Townsend, died peacefully at Christiana Care-Christiana Hospital, Newark, on Tuesday, June 17, 2008, surrounded by her loving family. She was 79.
Ida was born May 12, 1929, in Smyrna, to the late William H. and Florence E. Bleen.
She was a very loving mother, sister, aunt and friend.
Ida enjoyed spending time with her family and going to church.
She received her education at Thomas D. Clayton and Booker T. Washington schools.
She was a dietary aide at Delaware Hospital for the Chronically Ill, Smyrna, for 14 years before retirement.
Ida was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Dallas; a daughter, Renee; three brothers and a sister.
She leaves to cherish her memory three daughters, Carolyn Stevenson (Raynard), Karen Briscoe of Middletown and Stephanie Henry (Leroy) of Townsend; a son, Dallas Briscoe of Middletown; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; a sister, Josephine Dawson of Magnolia; a brother, Wesley Bleen (Marion) of Townsend; a sister-in-law; a brother-in-law; a very dear cousin, Betty Reed; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Mount Olive Pentecostal Church, 139 N. East St., Smyrna, where a viewing will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
