Howard W. Mitchell

GREENWOOD - Howard W. Mitchell, passed away on Saturday, Jan. 7, 2017 at Nanticoke Memorial Hospital in Seaford. He was born on July 5, 1945 in Delaware, the son of Gus and Annie Mitchell. He retired as a Mobile Home Specialist. He loved fishing, hunting and especially camping. His grandchildren were his number one, he spoiled them every day. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Elma Leedom; three brothers, Willard, Eldon and Floyd; son-in-law, Lawrence Reynolds; infant son, Randall Wayne; and infant granddaughter, Alyissa Mitchell. He is survived by his loving wife and caregiver, Sarah Lee Webb Mitchell, they were married for 52 years; a daughter and son-in-law, Dawn and Paul Reynolds; and one son and daughter-in-law, Roy and Jennifer Mitchell; five grandchildren, Caitlin Mitchell, Casey Reynolds, Destiny Mitchell, Luke Mitchell and Emily Mitchell; great-grandchildren, Madison McCurley and David McCurley. Also four sisters-in-law, Betty Layfield, Janet and Paul Marvel, Hazel Mitchell and Judy Parks; three sisters, Helen and Arthur Truitt, Frances and John Fisher and Wilma and Bruce Graham. A Celebration of Life service will be held Sunday, Jan. 15, 2017 at Bennie Smith Funeral Home, 437 N. Front Street, Seaford, at 1 p.m., with a viewing two hours prior.
