With NASCAR in Dover, midsummer beachgoers traveling Del. 1 and Delaware State Fair enthusiasts, traffic is top of mind for many locals and visitors. What are you experiencing this weekend — good and bad? Give us an example of your commute time and how long you sat in gridlock.
- My husband and I took a leisurely drive on Del. 9 to skip all the traffic, New Castle to Dover. — Diane Schroeder
- Our home is about 5 miles north of the track and just off U.S. 13. 2005 was the first year we were here for race week. I went out to buy a newspaper (how quaint) about 6:30 race day morning, and traffic was stopped dead in its tracks. For the past few years, I feel that a change in traffic is barely noticeable. The loss of revenue for the state and city must have been brutal. In the vernacular of the day, it was “a happening.” — Edward Mayer
- Crappy. — Jean Mumford
- The traffic is already bad, and adding the race in Dover and the fair likely didn’t help. — Megan Conley
- Shelter in place. — Peter Giaquinto
- It’s always a challenge to travel Del. 1 and U.S. 13. — Howard Gaines III
- You want some bad traffic? Go across the Bay Bridge, then anywhere in Maryland. — Bob Hice
- I almost got hit twice, at Walmart and Food Lion, in the pedestrian walkways. — Warren Avis
