CAMDEN - Herman W. Meyers Jr. passed away Saturday, April 14, 2012, in his home surrounded by his loving family. He was 87. He was born on May 14, 1924, in Philadelphia, Pa., son of the late Marie and Herman W. Meyers Sr. Herman was a general contractor for many years and built a number of commercial buildings and many houses. He was a charter member of the Camden-Wyoming Moose Lodge. His favorite hobby was gardening. He also enjoyed working with flowers, fishing, camping and was a big Phillies fan. He was preceded in death by two sisters and two brothers-in-law, Marie and Eddy Yanke of New Jersey, and Catherine Ann Moore and her husband Leonard of Dover; and a brother, Fred of Springfield, Mo. Herman is survived by his wife, Phyllis; four children, Robert Meyers of Frederica, Kathleen Meyers of Smyrna, Gary Meyers and his wife of Connie of Dover, and Patrice Hunnicutt and her husband Andy of Smyrna; brothers, George and his wife Carolyn of Camden, and Calvin Meyers and his wife Grace of Ft. Myers, Fla.; a sister, Rosemarie Thompson and her husband Earl of Dover; and a sister-in-law, Martha Meyers of Springfield, Mo. Services will be 11 a.m., Thursday, April 19, in the Pippin Funeral Home, 119 W. Camden-Wyoming Ave., Wyoming, where friends may gather beginning at 9:30 a.m. Burial will follow in Barratt's Chapel Cemetery, Frederica. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Delaware Hospice, 911 S. DuPont Hwy., Dover, DE 19901. Letters of condolence can be sent via www.pippinfuneralhome.com.
