Herbert Marion Sudler III

DOVER - Herbert Marion Sudler III, son of Herbert M. Sudler Jr. and Geneva Sudler, was born August 13, 1959. He departed this life peacefully on March 25, 2011, at the age of 51, at Kent General Hospital. Herbert was a member of the National Guard and was self-employed as a general contractor from 1987 to 2009. Herbert held several jobs with Matrix SVC IND Contractors, Inc., of Tulsa, Okla., and Spacemakers, Inc, of Norfolk, Va. His most recent employment was by South Delaware Masonry. He attended Smyrna High School and was a member of the Smyrna-Clayton community his entire life. He sponsored a Smyrna Men's Fall Softball Team and the team was the APA Division 019 First Place Winner in the 1996 fall season. Herbert was a member of the Smyrna-Clayton Moose Family Center Lodge. Herbert was preceded in death by his brother, Ulysses Sudler; father-in-law, Oscar Bordley, Sr.; sister-in-law, Rachelle Bordley; and brother-in-law, Linwood Bordley. He leaves to cherish his memory a devoted and loving wife, Judy Sudler whom he married in 1987; and two daughters, Letitia Bessicks and Naomi Bessicks. He also leaves behind his parents, Herbert and Geneva Sudler of Clayton; four brothers and one sister-in-law, Keith Sudler of Clayton, Stacy (Kim) Sudler of Smyrna, Johnny Sudler of Florida, Anthony Sudler of Virginia; three sisters and a brother-in-law, Tracy (Wyndham) Scott of Dover, Lisa Gsell of Maryland, and Nina Winston of Georgia; a mother-in-law, Emily B. Jones of Middletown; two brothers-in-law, Marvin Jones of Dover, and Oscar Bordley of Delmar; three sisters-in-law, Jacqueline (James) Collins of Panama, Costa Rica, Lynn Walker of Middletown, Michelle (Ralph) Hooper of Middletown; and grandmother, Arlivia Tate of Chesterville, Md. He is also survived by ten grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, and special friends. Funeral services will be 1 p.m., Saturday, April 2, 2011, at the Crossroads Christian Church, 4867 N. DuPont Hwy, Dover. Viewing will be two hours prior to the service.
