DOVER - Helen Nagurne, a resident of State Street Assisted Living, Dover, passed away Thursday, April 26, 2012. She was 88. Mrs. Nagurne was born in Philadelphia, Pa., to the late John and Anastasia Collins. She resided in Philadelphia for 38 years moving to Holland, Pa., where she lived until 2008 at which time she moved in with her daughter in Delaware. She had worked at the Naval Supply Depot in Philadelphia for 25+ years as a teletypist. As a young girl she took voice lessons with the hopes of someday singing Opera but instead chose to marry and start a family. Helen was known for her beautiful hair and sparkly earrings. She loved clothes shopping and going out to lunch. Bingo and card-making also became hobbies in her later years. Clark Gable, Tyrone Power and Errol Flynn were just some of her favorites in the black and white movies she watched regularly. All Helen's dogs were important to her, especially her ShihTzu - " Lovejoy." Feeding the squirrels was another hobby, even though they made a large nest in her attic. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Nicholas Nagurne, 1986; son, John Nagurne; and brother, William Collins. She is survived by her daughter, Nikki Jones and her husband Bill of Magnolia. Graveside services will be noon, Monday, April 30, 2012, at Oakland Cemetery, Adams & Ramona Ave., Philadelphia, PA 19104. Family and friends are invited. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Safe Haven Animal Sanctuary, P.O. Box 430, Nassau, DE 19969. Letters of condolence may be sent, and guest book signed at www.torbertfuneral.com.
