SEAFORD - Helen B. Russell passed away on Wednesday, May 18, 2016. Helen grew up in Laurel. She played basketball in high school and after high school, she played for the Laurel Owletts basketball team in the Eastern Shore League in the 1940's and 50's. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Chapter 7 in Seaford and the Acorn Club. Her husband, Vaughn B. Russell died on March 30, 2016. She is survived by her son, Barry Brumbley and his wife, Ann; daughter, Karen Coughlin and husband, Greg; grandchildren, Kim Tyndall (Sammy), Shari Bramble (Paul), Jason Spohn (Kelley), Lindsay Rynkowski (Ryan); great-grandchildren, Shelby Lester (Kenny), Trey Tyndall (girlfriend, Jenna Espenlaub), Sydney Tyndall, Alyssa Martin, Mark Martin, Nicholas Martin, Brianna Sweeny and Coleen Sweeny; and a great-great-grandson, Case Lester. Funeral services will be on Tuesday, May 24, 2016 at 11 a.m., preceded by an Order of the Eastern Star Service, at the Cranston Funeral Home, 300 N. Shipley St, Seaford, where friends may call from 10 to 11 a.m. Burial will be in Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Millsboro. Special thanks to the Vitas Hospice employees for their care and compassion during this time. RNs, Kristian and Heidi; LPNs, Moses and Jim; CNAs, Claudette and Stephanie; Pastor Jake; social worker Tracey and her private companions, Christine and Mary Jo. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations may be made to Vitas Hospice, 20773 Professional Park Blvd, Georgetown, DE., 19947.
