Hearn Taylor: Political signage should be ethical

Posted

Political signs have been part of campaigns for centuries. Signs are one way to tell the electorate who is running and who you support.

In the past 20 years, the signage has become mean-spirited. Nothing at this point is off-limits, even threatening a candidate’s/official’s life. This has gone too far and needs to be realigned to issues at hand and problems with the candidates that would affect their ability to govern within the Constitution of the United States.

America has witnessed several presidential assassinations. The ones that come to mind are President Abraham Lincoln’s and President John F. Kennedy’s. These two patriotic men, who loved America, were from different political parties. Both presidents were very controversial and were in office during critical times for our country. Both of these presidents were making decisions that were not popular but had to be made for the betterment of America’s future.

I hope we have learned from history and that it does not repeat itself. Post signs with ethics and a moral compass in mind.
