NEWARK - Hazel Spear Elliott, of Newark, formerly of Goldsboro, Md., went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, April 24, 2012, at Christiana Care Hospital in Newark. She was 102. Hazel was born Oct. 9, 1909, in a farmhouse near Farmington, the daughter of the late Wesley Spear and Ida Marine Spear. She married the late Ryland S. Elliott on Feb. 11, 1931, and raised two daughters. Besides her husband and parents she was preceded in death by her daughter, Rylene Elliott Rively at 55 years of age and all fourteen of her siblings. Hazel is survived by her daughter and caregiver for the last six years, Janice Elliott D'Andrea and spouse Louis; seven grandchildren, Kenneth D'Andrea, Alicia D'Andrea Norris, Loren D'Andrea, all of Newark, and Rylynn Rively Brown, Mark Rively, Elaine Rively Allan, Janice Rively Knauss, all of Goldsboro, Md.; ten great-grandchildren, Sean, Victoria, Lexi (Norris), Kevin and Zachery Brown, Matteo D'Andrea, Lindsay and Owen (Allan), Claire and Lucas (Knauss); and many nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be 11 a.m., Monday, April 30, 2012, at Fleischauer Funeral Home, 16 West Market Street, Greenwood. Friends may call one hour prior to funeral services. Interment will be held at St. Johnstown Cemetery, Greenwood. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contribution to their favorite charity or church in her name.
